چکیده

Periodontal diseases are one of the most common complex infections in humans and many other mammals. Infectious agents causing periodontitis are primarily periodontopathogenic bacteria, but disease pathogenesis and progression are immune-mediated. Local inflammation is well characterized, and experimental animal models of periodontitis have also provided mostly consistent data on systemic inflammatory host response. However, the data from the clinical studies are more variable, especially when obtained from patients post treatment. The variation observed may be a result of the model employed or bacterial species tested with a particular emphasis on monoinfections as compared to coinfections and periodontitis, and individual host response. Experimental animal models also mostly lack the variable extent, severity of periodontitis, and the truly chronic nature of the naturally occurring chronic periodontitis. These shortcomings can at least in part explain some of the discrepancy between experimental and clinical data.

P189: The Role of Periodontitis in Alzheimer Pathogenesis

Alzheimer disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia, is an irreversible progressive neurodegenerative condition. It is characterized by the salient inflammatory features, microglial activation and increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines which contribute to the inflammatory states of the CNS. Accumulating data suggest the key role of inflammation in AD pathogenesis. In a prospective...

Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome Due to Surgery and its Effective Therapeutic Approaches

Introduction: Various lesions trigger an inflammatory response in the host body. These injuries include surgical stress Surgery exerts stress on the body. Systemic inflammatory syndrome is a reflection of the degree of surgical stress and as a system of assessing the severity of postoperative stress. Regular complexes of inflammatory polypeptide molecules contribute to the development of this i...

The Frequency of Candida and Staphylococcus Colonization in the Oral Cavity of the Elderly

Abstract Background and objectives: Poor oral hygiene in elderly people increases the colonization of opportunistic pathogens such as Candida and Staphylococci. The presence of yeasts and bacteria in the oral cavity of elderly people can be harmful and in certain conditions may cause oral and systemic infections. The general purpose of this study was to determine the oral health status, particu...

Antibacterial Effects of Enoxolone on Periodontopathogenic and Capnophilic Bacteria Isolated from Specimens of Periodontitis Patients

Enoxolone is a major component of a traditional plant called Licorice. This substance has been found to contain some pharmaceutical properties including of both antiviral and antifungal activities. Microbiological studies have identified more than seven periodontopathogens in the periodontal pockets, which less than 4 species were capnophile. The purpose of this study was to investigate the in ...
